I hate music that has offensive language in it. I think it should be banned because it is highly exaggerated .Half of what they talk about isn’t true, it discriminates against women and other cultures and worst of all it blurs what’s right and wrong for children, giving them the wrong ideas.

Don’t you hate it when you turn on the T.V or radio and hear music artists cursing and talking about; guns, drugs, murder and large sums of money when it isn’t even true? It is very common these days in the music industry, especially in the rap genre. These artists try to maintain a certain image and portray themselves as tough guys, when in real life they’re as nice as any other regular person. Even if some artists did grow up in a tough neighbourhood and under rough circumstances, they are obviously not living like that any more. Most of these people would be million-airs living in mansions. This is why I think offensive music is highly exaggerated.

Secondly I think offensive language should be banned from music is because it is usually very offensive. It is often very derogative of women and quite racist. Why cant musicians make music with nice lyrics instead of the sex and drugs? People in the music industry try to say its all right to have these offensive lyrics in their songs because of their own bad experiences they’ve had growing up, but what they don’t realize is that they are now role models  to kids as young as 5 and 6. Little do they know their young fans are replacing words in their vocabularies with swear words and racial slurs. Artists also say if you think its offensive don’t listen to it. It’s hard not to listen to it when its on every radio station and T.V channel available.

Finally I think offensive language should be banned from music because it blurs what’s right and what’s wrong for kids. When they see rappers like 50 Cent on T.V selling drugs or pulling off a drive by shooting they think to themselves why don’t I try something like that to. If 50 cent can do, so can I. Musicians like these also promote joining gangs and gang affiliation. One of the main excuses gang members in America use is when arrested is “I saw a rapper do it on T.V once.” Its phrases like these that make it hard not to complain about offensive lyrics in today’s music scene.

In conclusion I still strongly believe offensive lyrics should be banned from the music industry. If it feeds people lies by exaggerating things, discriminates against sex or race and blurs what’s right and wrong I’m never going to like music that’s offensive.
